Tell us a little about yourself!

I am the owner of PhotosbyLJK, located in Frisco, Texas. I am a personal Branding + Family of Color Photographer. I specialize in crafting a Pink Starburst Experience for my clients. I am also the founder and president of Know YOUR Beautiful ™ Women’s Empowerment Campaign. I mentor teens and empower women to love themselves as they are (without Photoshop).



What do you specialize in? What made you want to focus on that specialty/specialties?

I specialize in crafting a Pink Starburst Experience for my clients. I recently launched a course explaining my process. I capture joy. The story behind me finding my niche is simply to create the narrative I need the world to see for people of color.



How did you first get started in photography?

Believe it or not, 11 years ago, I picked up my Nikon D60 to take some fun engagement photos for an ex co-worker, all in Auto. I’d just bought Lightroom and couldn’t wait to smack those default presets on each photo. They absolutely LOVED them! Can you believe it? (LOL)



I picked the camera back up about 2 years later once I had my son and the rest is history. I learned early on that photographing kids would not be my ministry.

How has using Iris impacted your business?

Iris Works came right on time for my business. It relieved me of so much time. I automate 18 documents to go out to clients today. I manually printed and sent each client those same documents every single session. Talk about being able to Uber my son around for Kumon, karate + basketball practice without toting a printer and laptop. It was insane. I love how much time Iris-Works has cut down on my processes. I had no else in place when I signed up, but I knew that I did not want to print or fax another contract. As I grow in business, so has Iris Works.



What are your future goals for your business? What are you looking forward to?

My future goals for my business consist of education. I have 2 conferences to speak at this fall. I hope to educate more photographers on how to get better or 5 STAR Google Reviews based on my client experience. I’m looking to open a studio in Frisco, TX for personal use + to rent out to other creatives. I’m a proponent of only booking your ideal client. So adding more clients to my photo family would be nice. My 3 year plan is to speak at WPPI.

I’m loving EVERYTHING Tiktok.
Quarantine has brought on a strong love of Oreos for me (Double Stuffed). I have to ask my husband to hide them from me.
I have a deep fear of porta potties. I will not use them. Ever. 🥴
