Tell us a little about yourself!
Hi! I’m Jill Booth! I’m from beautiful Sarasota, Florida. I am married to my best friend Willy and we have three boys Wynn 6, Owen 5 and William 2. In my free time I love to run. I really enjoy running 5ks, but my furthest run ever was a half marathon last year. I love the time to myself and the outside air. When were together as a family we love to spend time in our backyard. We have a sweet Rottweiler mix dog and 6 chickens that we enjoy taking care of!
What do you specialize in? What made you want to focus on that specialty/specialties?
I specialize in young families for the most part. I have tried it all and that is where I am happiest. Since my time is so limited being a stay at home mom, I need my work to be quick and I found that an hour long family session in the evening is best for me. I love the energy little kids have running around on the beach or in a field. That is for me!
How did you first get started in photography?
My mom bought me my first camera about 6 years ago because I wanted to start my own business and I didn’t have the means at that time. I knew nothing, but I had a lot of passion and determination.. I started from scratch and just didn’t give up. I made a ton of mistakes. I took a lot of bad photos and offered free shoots when I first started out and just figured things out by learning lessons on what not to do. ; ) I also watched a lot of You Tube to learn how my camera worked.
How has using Iris impacted your business?
Iris changed everything for me. Not only am I completely organized now, but I present myself in a more professional manner to my clients. I love the forms I can send to clients when they book and then I can always refer back to them on the way to a session to recall my clients hopes for their session and everyones names. I love the calendar, it keeps me on track and on time. I haven’t forgotten a shoot since I signed up for Iris. So ya, I used to forget people had booked before I had Iris. I used to be a mess with organization. Iris really made it possible for me to run a successful business and be a full time mom. I would be lost without it.
What are your future goals for you business? What are you looking forward to?
I want to start mentoring this year. I finally feel 100% comfortable at my sessions and I would love to teach beginning photographers what I have learned over the past 6 years. I am most looking forward to my brand new website that is finally coming to fruition soon!
Fun facts:
-I met my husband while on my surfboard on Cinco de Mayo! I don’t think anyone else can claim that. 😉
-My favorite thing to do with my boys is to take them camping at Fort Wilderness.
-I love to watch The Office. I have seen every episode more times than I’m proud of.
-I am currently really into “The Minimalist”. It’s a podcast and they also have a documentary and a book. I have found a lot of freedom and clarity in my life by un-cluttering my home of everything we don’t use on a frequent basis. I have donated several thousand items over the past year. I highly recommend them if you spend too much time tidying everyday or feel generally overwhelmed and can’t pinpoint why.
