Feature Friday : Ashley Reece Family Photographer

Tell us a little about yourself!

Hi!! I’m Ashley. I am a farmer’s wife with three amazing kiddos. I am from Southwest Oklahoma. I also teach middle school social studies. When I’m not working or working my family photography business I enjoy reading and competing with my horse, and watching my children show their livestock!

What do you specialize in? What made you want to focus on that specialty/specialties?
  1. I specialize in motherhood photography and posed newborns. I absolutely adore motherhood and all it entails, but my story in my why behind why I chose to specialize in this is very deep.
How did you first get started in photography?

I got started years ago, but I took a long break. I started back in 2017 and haven’t put my camera down since.

How has using Iris impacted your business?

I have been using Iris off and on for a couple of years. I cheated on Iris with Honeybook, but I quickly learned that Iris Works is the place for me. I came back full-time at the end of 2019 and never plan to leave. Iris is one of the best things that has happened to my photography business. It keeps me organized, everything is in one place, and it’s so user-friendly for my clients. When I was with Honeybrook it was very difficult for my clients to use. I absolutely love the booking calendar and the email templates.

What are your future goals for your business? What are you looking forward to?

I have massive goals for my business! I would like to continue to grow and get better with my craft. The teacher in me wants to break into the education field in the photography industry. I have always had a love of teaching and I hope that one day I have something amazing to offer. I want to help as many people as I can. And I’m a super nerd and I absolutely love getting in and playing with Iris Works, websites, and the back end of the photography business.

If you could go back to when you first started in photography, what advice would you give yourself?

Concentrate on yourself. Let people inspire you, but If they become uninspiring cut them out. Only compare yourself to the person you were yesterday. Be smart with your money, and don’t spend your money on silly things that either go out of style, or that you end up not using anymore. Be intentional in every aspect of your business.
