5 Tips for Balancing Being a Work At Home Mom (WAHM) – By Erin Leigh Studio

Being a WAHM – work-at-home-mom – has its perks.  But it also has its challenges – and lots of them. Many of us struggle on a daily basis with balancing being a mom and a business owner.  So we asked Erin of Erin Leigh Studio to give us her tips for balancing work and home.

1.     Set aside office hours with uninterrupted work time. Two days a week I have set aside to work on my business. I try not to do other things such as cleaning, laundry or grocery shopping. I also use nap time to answer emails and edit photos.

2.     Don’t be afraid to get help with your kids. The best thing I ever did was send my son to daycare two days a week. This has helped tremendously. I’m able to schedule newborn sessions on these days, as well as, do photo editing. You can hire a nanny or even a neighbor kid to come to your home and watch your kids.

3.      Schedule at least 1 weekend off a month to spend time with family. If you don’t schedule family time, you’ll end up working every weekend and your kids and husband will not be happy with you.

4.     Limit your time on social networks. There’s nothing worse than having time to work and then realizing two hours have gone by and nothing has been accomplished. I try to tell myself that once I get a certain task done, I can get on Facebook or Instagram for a few minutes.

5.     Write down and schedule goals for each day. Every day I write down what I want to accomplish or what I need to accomplish. I also use Iris Works to remind me of all the tasks/goals due each day.
